dungutu bridge
The road project in Western Uganda starts in the town of Fort Portal to the border with DR Congo, stretching 103km. The terrain varies from steep valleys along the Ruwenzori Mountains to undulating in the low lying areas.
This area has four major rivers and the bridge constructed to take into account the expected flush floods because of the vicinity of the mountain.

The bridge over the river Dungutu is in reinforced concrete and has two equal spans of 10m with an opening height of 8m. The 10m wide deck consists of 225mm thick slab and four 800mm x 450mm beams at 2m spacing.

aswa river bridge
Gauff Ingenieurs Uganda commissioned JM Kariuki Consultants Ltd to design, review and supervise a bridge over the River Aswa, North of Gulu in Northern Uganda.
The bridge has three equal spans of 20m each and overall length of 60m. The deck is designed as a concrete/steel composite with a carriageway 7.5m wide with 1.5m wide footpaths on either side.

Due to the high rate of flow in the river, the composite design was chosen since the steel beams would carry the formwork and concrete without requiring intermediate supports. Once the concrete cures, the deck would carry the vehicular loads as a composite.

kangole bridge
JM Kariuki Consultants Ltd working with KOM consultants designed, reviewed and supervised this bridge over river Omanimani, at Kangole in North East Uganda.
The bridge has three equal spans of 26.2m each and overall length of 78.6m. The deck is designed as a concrete/steel composite with a carriageway 11m wide with 2m wide footpaths on either side. This bridge replaces an old bridge of 7 spans each at 7m.

The floor slabs were designed and built to carry office space live load. The reinforced concrete hollow pot floor slabs on beams are supported on reinforced concrete column at 9m & 6m centres.
